Reunion Marketing Invites You to Support Charity Water
I was listening to an episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast” a few months ago and came across this interview with Scott Harrison of Charity Water. Simmons typically talks sports and interviews athletes and other sports writers, so I was intrigued when I saw the CEO of a non-profit come up in my feed.
This episode was one of the strongest Simmons has ever put up, and I was blown away by the stories Harrison told. One of them was about Rachel Beckwith, a young girl who decided she didn’t want presents for her ninth birthday. She wanted to help people. It was her goal to raise $300, enough money for 15 people to have drinking water. She fell a bit short, only raising $220, but Rachel promised her family she would try harder the next year.
One month later, Rachel was in a tragic car accident and passed away. Her story and her wish traveled by word of mouth, and later through the news. People all over the world were inspired by her generosity, and her campaign ended up raising over $1.2 million. Rachel’s Gift was enough to build wells for more than 37,000 people in 143 villages.
Charity Water also has an exceptional track record. They operate with a 100% model, meaning 100% of public donations go toward funding projects. Overhead costs for their organization come from separate fundraisers and sponsorships. As with many charities, one of the biggest issues they face is getting more people involved and spreading their message.
Stories like these show us how easy it is to take action and help out. When I heard Harrison talking about spreading the word for this cause and getting his message out there, I immediately thought about how Reunion Marketing could get involved. We’ve grown from a two-person team to a full-time staff of 34 people in just over two years. With our rate of growth and success, few companies are as well equipped as ours to promote an organization like Charity Water.
So that’s what we’re going to do.
Reunion Marketing is Raising $10,000 for Charity Water
We wanted to go all in and raise enough money to fully fund the construction of one well in a country where they need it most. Our campaign lives here:
To fully fund the campaign, we have until December 31, 2017, to raise $10,000. Reunion Marketing will be matching up to $5,000 of all the money we raise.
As part of our efforts, we’re having a get-together at our office to bring as many people together to learn more about Charity Water and raise money for the campaign. The event will be on Friday, October 27, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (though plenty of us will probably continue to celebrate elsewhere, and you’re welcome to follow).
Here is a link to the event on Facebook, so please sign up today! Make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more details. I highly encourage everyone to swing by our office and donate toward the amazing work Charity Water is doing.
